Théâtre de la Massue - Cie Ézéquiel Garcia-Romeu (France)

In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, industry organised the workforce on a forced march in the service of victorious capitalism. Emancipation and progress were promises made at the cost of working class sacrifice. The Small Theatre from the End of the World is an exploratory triptych by Ézéquiel Garcia-Romeu. Opus 2 - the second part of the triptych - was created at the interface between puppet theatre and visual installation. The desert landscape, in which creatures wander around in search of a better life, is created using various mechanical reels, automatons and static puppets. The images speak of the uncontrolled consumption of natural resources, of the cataclysm that seems to be approaching ever faster, and above all they raise the question of the position of the individual in a world of hyperproduction of everything.
