La Compagnie S'Appelle Reviens (France)

In Carlo Collodi's story, a little wooden puppet wants to become a human being. In Alice Laloy's performance, the opposite happens. The children turn into puppets. Pinocchio(live)#3 is a dizzying interruption, because the puppets do not become people, but children who become puppets with the help of adults. Dressed up, with clothes and strings, their bodies become mechanical and their gestures expressionless. The performance, which straddles the border between dance, visual art and performance, offers a vivid experience of metamorphosis that is both fascinating and strange. In the factory devised by Alice Laloy, Collodi's famous fairy tale takes a completely different turn. The blue fairy who breathes life into the wooden puppet no longer exists. Here it is the living who are transformed into inanimate, standardised objects.
